Imagine you want to go out to either a restaurant or bar with some friends. What is your thought process?
Based on my previous experiences, it will typically consist of Googling the keywords such as “ramen near me” or “bars in Ocean Beach”. Then I looked at both the pictures of the items offered as well as the atmosphere. Well if this is you, you fit in the majority. As 71% of people will research a restaurant or bar before going to it for the first time.
Over 80% of consumers are utilizing Google Maps to find their way to a local business, this has resulted in the older days of relying on traditional maps to be in the past. Another reason for the boost in people using Google Maps for restaurant research is to determine what the driving experience will be. This will give them an estimate of how traffic will be, this is an additional reason for the importance of having a strong Google My Business listing. Customers are using that listing for both research purposes and direction purposes.
Lastly, there are over 1.5 Billion Google searches annually that are based on location searches. This statistic does not just refer to restaurants for example, it relates to all ranges of businesses such as Plumbers, Wedding Photographers, and but not limited to accountants. As we live in the 21st century, it is becoming crucial for all businesses to have a strong presence online.
For some background information, one of my business ventures is Google Map photography and reviewing, it is a program called “Local Guides”. Throughout all of my photos submitted, I have gathered over 65 million impressions, with over 90% of those being organic. If the research above does not convince you, let my word be enough backing for it as well.
